Council officers to be referred to as staff in move to use language easily understood by residents
The new Leader of the council said their mission is to use language that can be easily understood by residents. Opposition councillors said it was derogatory to rename ‘officers’ as ‘staff’
The decision on the name change was passed by the Isle of Wight Council last night (Wednesday).
The change is designed to make things more understandable to the public by changing constitutional references from ‘members’ to ‘councillors’ and ‘officers’ becoming ‘staff’.
